This drink is also called a Black Eye or a Red Eye, black being two shots of espresso and red being one shot. The thing is, most people who have visited a Starbucks have had this drink already, just with a slight variation. Some variations of the Frappucino are coffee blended with a shot of espresso. Don't believe me? I'm appalled. Look it up. ;P

Not many people share your reverence for espresso and disdain for drip coffee, Rich. The thing about drip coffee is that it has a different nature than espresso: it takes longer to wake you up, but the "buzz" stays around longer. Espresso hits you quicker, but then you also crash sooner. Adding more espresso would intensify the buzz & worsen the crash.

I've never actually tried a "Canadiano". I have an espresso or drip coffee, depending on my mood, or how much time I have.

so, you take espresso--which is a superior method of brewing coffee--and add to it drip coffee--which is one of the most inferior methods of brewing coffee--just above percolator brew--all for enhancing the amount of caffeine in your cup?

why not just double or triple the espresso? wouldn't that be preferable to adding swill to your nectar?
